Do You Need to Detox? 4 Signs You May Have Missed

Published by Vicki on

I’m sure you have tried a detox or diet least once in your life with minimal results. You’re really optimistic at first, But it never seems to be the miracle you’ve hoped for. The reason you have not been successful with detox plans is not because you can’t do it, or that they really have to be difficult and unpleasant. The problem is that you need to change your mindset about what detoxing means for your body, mind and spirit.

While I have definitely gone through periods of treating my body like the temple that it is, being Vegan and sober for 5 years, I have also known what it’s like to treat my body like a tavern and the effects that go with it. I was not feeling like myself, and didn’t know why. Even though I thought I was doing healthy things, like eating at home and not drinking soda, I wasn’t allowing my body enough rest and nutrients to kick into healing mode. I was on a downward spiral for sure.

I realized that some of my symptoms were easily cleared up with a few detox practices. But these symptoms can be tricky.

Here are four signs that you need a detox:

  • Fatigue, lethargy and lack of motivation
  • Moodiness and irritability, Inability to cope with stress
  • Weight gain, reduced immunity; frequent colds and infections
  • Concentration and memory problems; difficulty making decisions

It might be easy to explain away some of these as individual conditions and make excuses for why you’re run down, a little fuzzy, kinda cranky and not feeling like yourself. But these are actually all connected. Once a few toxins build up in your body, you start to get tired. Then your mood goes downhill. Then you run out of motivation and eat poorly. And by then your brain is not getting the right nutrients and you’re in a haze. And not a good one…

Does this sound like you? Don’t worry. It’s easy to take back your body, mind and spirit through gentle detoxing. I can show you how to fit detoxing into your daily life and take control of your health in a safe, effective way. Without all the suffering. I’m Vicki Wiepking - a wellness coach, writer and teacher. I love to play outdoors and try not to take anything too seriously - myself especially. I work with busy women who are ready to start a new lifestyle, let go of negative thinking and basically anything else that is weighing them down. I help my clients embrace their best selves and stop listening to the voice that makes them self-sabotage. Yeah, we all have that little voice - and I'll help you make it work for you instead of against you! I have always been a student of alternative health and wellness, and wanted to find a way to combine my love of nutrition, essential oils, yoga, and nature into a productive lifestyle for myself. I started a wellness coaching practice and began working with clients over 15 years ago. Through the years I observed first hand how women specifically needed help in their daily lives on not just physical, but emotional and psychological levels as well. So, I developed the Mind Body Blueprint. It is designed to help busy women achieve their health and fitness goals. But first, a few things about me.... - I love doing laundry.  No ironing, and I don’t really separate colors.  My hubby doesn’t let me touch his clothes.  Maybe that’s why I like it… - I take bubble baths almost every night.  Sanctuary time for sure. - I turn the music up in the car and sing real loud. You do it too, I've seen you. - My favorite shows: Gone with the Wind – Scarlett rocks.  Grace and Frankie – because I love laughing and crying at the same time. - Cooking calms me down…until I get too many things going at once and wreck something.  It all tastes good in the end usually. - Thanks to my yoga practice I can still do the splits and a pretty good handstand.  Cartwheels optional. My hubby and I are obsessed with outdoor adventures. You might find us whitewater rafting, skiing or relaxing on the beach - depending on the season.
