Start Living Your Life with Purpose and Meaning

We have all had our existential moments where we wonder “what is this all for”? Why am I just going through these motions all day, only to just do it again the next day? We feel like work and family have taken over our bodies, minds and what’s left of our spirits. We wonder, “Where is the fun in life, the feeling of meaning and purpose?”
We’re taught to think that we’re all destined for some bigger purpose, and that if we make the wrong choices, or are unhappy, that somehow we’ve missed it. So we just go through our mundane lives, allowing the days to slip by without really knowing what we “should” be doing. It feels icky, like everything is for nothing.
And I can tell you that after years of study, you’re right. It’s about no-thing and every-thing. Wanna know the big secret? The purpose of life is what you make of it. That’s it. Live whatever life you’re leading deliberately, reverently. Once you realize that your experience is exactly the one you “should” be having and that you can continue to manifest whatever life you really want, it’s time to get clear on your purpose.
A clear purpose describes what you are out to accomplish, whether it’s for a work project, your family values, or your life vision. If you don’t have an underlying purpose for the “why” of what you are doing, you won’t be as successful. Like shooting arrows at moving targets in the dark.
What if, instead of just winging it, and reacting to circumstance (fueled by a little procrastination or lack of confidence, let’s be honest…) you could start leading a life with purpose and meaning? What would that do for your work? Your relationships? Your happiness factor?
If you could change one thing about your health, one thing about your wealth (business), and one thing about your happiness (relationships), what would they be?
Now ask yourself, “What if I don’t change these things? Tomorrow? Next year? In five years? What will happen to my heath, wealth and happiness?”
If you get a knot in the pit of your stomach when you think about that, that’s good. Let’s use that to spur you into action. But before you start making big changes, you need a big purpose. One that will help you do all those things on your health, wealth and happiness “to do” lists. Because without that purpose, the motivation to keep yourself pressured enough to actually make consistent change in your life just … pitters ……out.
Ask yourself the following questions:
What do you really want out of life?
What do you really not want in your life?
What would you be willing to give up in order to live the life you want?
Answer these questions honestly and create a vision about what it would feel like to live that life. Create a purpose that will get you focused, excited, and committed. Then you’ll have the motivation to actually achieve it.
So you might still be thinking you’re not up to all this “purpose” stuff. What if you choose the wrong one? What if it’s not the one that is meant to be? What if I screw up just choosing my purpose?
Don’t panic. It’s not as tricky as it might seem, but I can definitely help you sort that out. And I’ll help you take it to the next level by using that purpose to revamp your daily routines. Stay tuned for my upcoming workshop, “Live with Purpose”, where I’ll show you how to make these vital changes to your lifestyle. I want you to get the most out of your experience here – in this life, in this body, in this moment so you can really enjoy your life, rather than just suffer through it.
