The Hidden Power of Writing a Letter to Santa

Published by Vicki on

We all love Santa. Admit it. You wish you could still believe in something more powerful than yourself. Someone who knows a little magic and how to tap into abundance, someone who was benevolent and somehow helped you make it all work out. It was easy to believe in Santa when we were children, but as we got older, we were told we couldn’t connect with that magic anymore, and to put those dreams away. Bah humbug!

I’ve always carried a little hope that somehow we are all wrong. That there really is some powerful force, working on our behalf – something that can help us create a life that is uniquely ours, and help us share our gifts with the world. And it turns out, Santa’s been with us all along! He is the Law of Attraction working in our lives.

And just like Santa, it sees you when you’re sleeping, it knows when you’ve been bad or good and all that, because the Law of Attraction is working in your life whether you know it or not. It responds to what you think about the most.

Now as an adult, you can use the Law of Attraction to set intentions for the New Year by writing a letter to Santa. (I suspect this has been part of the legend all along, we just get forced to think in commercial terms rather than situational outcomes.) It’s easy, fun and a great way to tap into that Universal energy of love and abundance.

For me, in 1985, it was the Barbie kitchen. I thought about it night and day until Christmas morning; I knew I had to believe it to receive it. And I tried to believe really, really hard cuz I was at that age when you begin to doubt. The suspense nearly killed me – not because I needed that toy so bad, but because I wanted to know if it was still true…if the magic was still there.

The Law of Attraction works the same way. The more you think about something – and consequently take actions that re-enforce that thought, you are invoking the Law of Attraction. The more you believe it, the better it works. It’s an exercise in total faith. No small feat for a 10 year old.

Think about what your “ideal” situation will be going into 2020. You can focus on one aspect of your life, or several – although they’re all kinda connected. You can set intentions for success at work, a harmonious home life, better self-care, a new car – whatever needs some manifesting mojo in your life right now.

Do a little thinking, make your list and decide WHY you want to welcome these changes/requests. After all, you spent a lot of time on your Santa list, you definitely want to spend a little time deciding what’s important and not just what’s trendy…

Here’s a basic Law of Attraction exercise with a focus on Santa as the delivery dude:

  1. Relax your mind – meditate for 5 minutes to increase brain power and put your mind in a receptive state
  2. Decide what you DO want – focus on wanting the positive rather than not wanting the negative
  3. Ask Santa for it – send a clear picture of what you want; see it as already yours – it’s there in his Sleigh
  4. Write it down – “Dear Santa, I am so grateful now that…insert request…” be specific and descriptive
  5. Feel it – imagine how it will feel when you achieve it, sense it in your body, stir up the emotions
  6. Show gratitude – write down all of the things you do have now (how far you’ve come so far, or where you’re starting) and be thankful
  7. Trust the power of Santa – you do not have to know how it will happen; be patient; do not entertain doubts or “how’s that going to work” or alternative endings – you have to believe in the magic!

End with “I know you will help me with this. Thank you, Santa”

Read the letter to yourself 5 times before xmas or new year’s. Believe it. Become the person who receives and achieves it.

So now that the secret is out – Santa is REAL – practice it every day. And the good news is, the more you have to be grateful for, the more you can share your gifts. That is one of the operating principles. There is no limit to what Santa can line up for you, and yes, he works year round… Any other questions?  Oh, right – yes, he likes milk and cookies, but maybe also wine and chocolate. Santa’s not picky. You just have to believe hard enough and trust in the power of the Universe.

Happy Holidays!

P.S. I did get that Barbie kitchen. It still smells like vanilla after all these years!

I’m Vicki Wiepking - a wellness coach, writer and teacher. I love to play outdoors and try not to take anything too seriously - myself especially. I work with busy women who are ready to start a new lifestyle, let go of negative thinking and basically anything else that is weighing them down. I help my clients embrace their best selves and stop listening to the voice that makes them self-sabotage. Yeah, we all have that little voice - and I'll help you make it work for you instead of against you! I have always been a student of alternative health and wellness, and wanted to find a way to combine my love of nutrition, essential oils, yoga, and nature into a productive lifestyle for myself. I started a wellness coaching practice and began working with clients over 15 years ago. Through the years I observed first hand how women specifically needed help in their daily lives on not just physical, but emotional and psychological levels as well. So, I developed the Mind Body Blueprint. It is designed to help busy women achieve their health and fitness goals. But first, a few things about me.... - I love doing laundry.  No ironing, and I don’t really separate colors.  My hubby doesn’t let me touch his clothes.  Maybe that’s why I like it… - I take bubble baths almost every night.  Sanctuary time for sure. - I turn the music up in the car and sing real loud. You do it too, I've seen you. - My favorite shows: Gone with the Wind – Scarlett rocks.  Grace and Frankie – because I love laughing and crying at the same time. - Cooking calms me down…until I get too many things going at once and wreck something.  It all tastes good in the end usually. - Thanks to my yoga practice I can still do the splits and a pretty good handstand.  Cartwheels optional. My hubby and I are obsessed with outdoor adventures. You might find us whitewater rafting, skiing or relaxing on the beach - depending on the season.
